Pursuant to Governor Baker’s March 12, 2020 Order Suspending Certain Provisions of the Open Meeting Law, G.L. c. 30A, §18, and the Governor’s March 15, 2020 Order imposing strict limitation on the number of people that may gather in one place, this meeting of the Melrose Planning Board will be conducted via remote participation to the greatest extent possible. Specific information and the general guidelines for remote participation by members of the public and/or parties with a right and/or requirement to attend this meeting can be found on the City of Melrose’s website, at www.cityofmelrose.org. No inperson attendance of members of the public will be permitted, but every effort will be made to ensure that the public can adequately access the proceedings in real time, or in the event that we are unable to do so, we will post on the mmtv3.org website an audio or video recording, transcript, or other comprehensive record of proceedings as soon as possible after the meeting. A link will also be available on www.cityofmelrose.org. 


The Planning Board has received an application for Site Plan Review in accordance with Chapter 235, Section 16.1 (Site Plan Review) and Section 71.1 (Smart Growth Overlay District) and for a Special Permit pursuant to Chapter 235, Section 73.1 (Affordable Housing Incentive Program) of the Melrose Zoning Ordinance for the property at 99 Washington Street. The Applicant is proposing to connect, renovate, and expand the exiting mill and gatehouse buildings on the site to create a three-story multifamily building with 141 residential units, including 19 affordable units, and 172 off-street parking spaces.

The first Public Hearing for this case was held on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 8:00 PM in the City Council Chamber, Melrose City Hall.
