Parking in Melrose
  • There is no overnight parking on the street in the City of Melrose and those who choose to do so are at the risk of receiving a parking ticket.  We have highlighted some key information below on the overnight parking options and our Parking Clerk is available to answer any questions you may have.
    • Melrose offers a parking pass program for overnight parking in designated lots in the City.  The parking pass costs $120 per year.  Parking permits can only be purchased at City Hall and proof of residency and registration are required.
    • Additional information can be found at https://www.cityofmelrose.org/parking-office/pages/residential-overnight-permit.
    • If you have a guest or non-recurring need to park on the street overnight (e.g. the driveway is being paved), you may request an exemption from the Police Department at https://melrosepolice.net/overnight-parking/.
      • If you require a multiple day exemption, the exemption form must be completed each day and there is a limit of 12 exemptions per year.
  • Melrose offers a Merchant Parking program for local businesses.  Details can be found in the Merchant Permits tab in the menu on the left.  There is also a link to a map of the municipal lots available for merchant parking.
  • There are time limits for non-permit holders in Municipal Parking Lots and along Main Street and other main roads.  Please take notice of the signage as the police do patrol and ticket vehicles throughout the day.
  • Melrose has three commuter rail train stations (that are options in the parking pass program)  that offer pay by the hour.  Payment for parking at both are made through the app PayByPhone.  For those without a SmartPhone, the commuter rail stations offer a telephone payment option as an alternative.

The Parking Clerk can be contacted at 781-979-4144 or by email at ParkingClerk@cityofmelrose.org or you may visit the Collector’s window on the 1st floor of City Hall.
