Comp and Class Study

In FY22 the City of Melrose hired Human Resources Services, Inc. (HRS) to perform a comprehensive classification and compensation study of approximately 70 non-union positions including department heads and staff, which has not been done since 1988. The goal of this initiative was to invest in the City’s role as an employer, and modernize and standardize our pay practices for non-union Managers and staff to provide for meaningful progression and promotion while ensuring compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Mass Pay Equity Act.
