The Week Ahead: Public Meetings & Events Happening in Melrose

In Melrose, public meetings and events open to all community members occur every week. All posted agendas can be accessed via this link, http://melrosecityma.iqm2.com/citizens/default.aspx, and public meeting video recordings can be accessed here: https://vimeo.com/mmtv3/ (thanks, MMTV!). Questions and/or comments about the Week Ahead Digest can be emailed to Lily Martin, Communications Coordinator for the City of Melrose, at lmartin@cityofmelrose.org. Thanks for reading!

It’s a Good Week for:

  • Civic Duty: Melrose residents can vote in the local election this Tuesday, November 7, 2023, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the City’s centralized voting location—the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School Gymnasium. Have a mail-in ballot to submit? Drop it into the secure drop box located between City Hall and the Post Office by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Community members who have a disability or are 60 years of age or older can get a free ride to the polls on Election Day from the Council on Aging. Want a ride? Call the COA today (781-665-4034)!
  • Bundles: Melrose residents can learn how to combine Energy Tax Credits with generous Mass Save incentives to support home energy efficiency and clean energy upgrades when they attend the Making the Most of the Inflation Reduction Act Energy Tax Credits Webinar presented by the Melrose Energy Challenge, the City-run program to support and encourage energy efficiency and clean energy, on Wednesday, November 8, at 7 p.m. via Zoom.
  • Thanking & Honoring Veterans: This Veterans’ Day, the City of Melrose will honor and thank all active duty and deceased veterans who sacrificed and defended the country’s freedoms as well as their families by hosting a series of Veterans' Day events. The events will conclude with the City’s annual Veterans’ Day Ceremonies—a Salute to Veterans—on Saturday, November 11. To learn more, read the full City News story. Please note: In observance of Veterans' Day, all Melrose Municipal Buildings, apart from public safety buildings, will be closed on Friday, November 10.
  • Giving...Cranberry Sauce: Now through November 17, MelroseKind is collecting canned cranberry sauce (Ocean Spray Jellied and Whole Berry) for the food pantries served by Melrose nonprofit The Food Drive. Donate at any of the following Kindness Porches: 89 Walton Park; 160 West Wyoming; 647 Main St (Follow Your Art); 249 Grove Street; or donate via MelroseKind's Amazon Wish List.
  • Foodies: The Food Drive is hosting its annual fundraiser, Harvest, at Memorial Hall on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 7 to 10 p.m. Since feeding the community is their mission, the non-profit’s fundraiser will be a casual evening of fall foodie fun, featuring small plate tasting stations and desserts from local food establishments, festive autumn cocktails, live music, and unique raffles. To learn more, visit www.thefooddrive.org.
