The Week Ahead: Public Meetings & Events Happening in Melrose
In Melrose, public meetings and events open to all community members take place every week. All posted agendas can be accessed via this link, http://melrosecityma.iqm2.com/citizens/default.aspx, and public meeting video recordings can be accessed here https://vimeo.com/mmtv3/ (thanks, MMTV!).
It’s a Good Week for:
- Philanthropy: The Mayor’s Office today announced its 2023 Melrose Emergency Fund (MEF) fundraising goal of raising "50k by the Holiday" or $50,000 by New Year's Day 2024 (Did you know that the MEF provided more than $78,000 in financial aid to Melrose families in need between July 2022 and June 2023?). Consider donating to the fund today to help continue Melrose’s tradition of neighbors helping neighbors. To learn more, visit www.cityofmelrose.org/emergencyfund
- Voting: The last day to participate in the City’s in-person Early Voting is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 31, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Melrose residents who have a disability or are 60 years of age or older can get a free ride to the voting polls during Early Voting and on Election Day from the Council on Aging. Call the COA today to book a ride (781-665-4034) and read this City News story to learn more.
- Trick-or-Treating: Children aged Grade 3 or younger can Trick or Treat at Melrose Businesses on Main Street tomorrow from 3:30 to 5 p.m., thanks to the Melrose Chamber of Commerce. Main Street will be closed from 3 to 5 p.m. to ensure the safety of all participating in the event.
- Decomposition: Melrose residents can compost their pumpkins for free this Saturday between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. during the Department of Public Works' annual Pumpkin Composting Event taking place at the City Yard. To learn more, visit https://www.cityofmelrose.org/public-works/events/84661. And, now that most of the leaves have fallen, the DPW has embarked on its annual Fall Street Sweeping Program. Review the schedule to learn when your neighborhood will be swept.
