Boston 25 Morning News rolls into Melrose this summer for a live broadcast on Friday, July 26th from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Main Street (intersection of Main and West Foster Street). The Boston 25 Morning News team is celebrating its 16th season of Zip Trips making stops in Andover, Braintree, Westborough, Dennis, Melrose, Middleborough, Mattapan, Webster, Bellingham and Newburyport.

Boston 25 News anchors Gene Lavanchy, Elizabeth Hopkins, Meteorologist Shiri Spear, Boston 25 Sports Anchor Tom Leyden and Boston 25 Around Town Host Michele Lazcano will host the Melrose Zip Trip.

“We’re off to great places…from town commons to town beaches,” said Lavanchy.  “Zip Trips have become a summer destination and we’re looking forward to meeting the people and visiting the places that make each Zip Trip community so special.”

Boston 25 will put a spotlight on hidden gems, little-known landmarks and good eats in Melrose. Local newsmakers, hometown teams and community heroes will join us as special guests.

“You can count on sun, fun and maybe a little live music this season at Zip Trips,” Spear added.  “I can’t wait to bring our show on the road and find out what makes people beam with pride about their hometown.”

Main Street will be transformed into a pedestrian walk way for the July 26th Zip Trip prior to that evening’s annual Summer Stroll event. Residents, visitors and kids of all ages are invited to be part of Boston 25’s live audience.  The festival-like atmosphere also includes activities for kids, games, concert ticket giveaways, and live music from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a box of healthy cereal to benefit Melrose food pantries.

Information on bus route detours and road closures is available here.
