Road and Bus Detours for Friday, July 26

On Friday, July 26, there will be two events in Melrose that will impact traffic on Main Street: The Fox 25 ZipTrip in the morning and the Chamber of Commerce’s Summer Stroll in the evening. This will have the following impacts on traffic:

• Morning Street Closures for Fox 25 ZipTrip:
  • Main Street closed, 3:00AM - 12:00PM, from Upham/Essex Street to Grove Street.
  • West and East Foster Street closed, 3:00AM - 12:00PM, from Myrtle Street to Dell Ave.
  • The Friends Lot (behind Papa Gino’s) will be closed from 3:00AM - 12:00PM.
• Main Street will reopen for traffic from about 12:00PM to 4:00PM
• Afternoon and Evening Street Closures, Impacts for Summer Stroll:
  • Main Street closed to vehicles (Upham to Grove), 4:00PM – 11:00PM
  • Essex Street closed to vehicles (Main Street to Ceretanni Way), 4:00PM – 11:00PM
  • Eastman Place closed to vehicles (Main Street to YMCA Lot Entrance), 4:00PM – 11:00PM
  • East Foster Street closed to vehicles (Main Street to Friends Court Municipal Lot), 4:00PM – 11:00PM
  • West Foster Street closed to vehicles (Main Street to TD Bank parking lot), 4:00PM – 11:00PM
  • Street signs will be posted for "No Parking Friday 4:00PM until 10:00PM" for the streets listed above.
• All municipal parking lots will be accessible using East Foster from Lebanon, West Foster from Myrtle, Grove Street and Myrtle Street
• Roads will reopen after the conclusion of the event, at the discretion of the City of Melrose.
• MBTA buses will be rerouted for 24 hours, from 12:00AM Friday to 12:00AM Saturday, as follows:
  • Routes 131, 136 and 137 Inbound (Southerly on Main Street):
    • Left onto Upham, Right onto Lebanon, Right onto Grove, Left onto Main
    • 2 stops missed on each route.The connections are Main Street @ Upham Street and Grove Street @ Main Street.
  • Routes 131, 136 and 137 Outbound (Northerly on Main Street):
    • Right onto Grove, Left onto Lebanon, Left onto Upham, Right onto Main
    • 2 stops missed on each route.The connections are Main Street @ Upham Street and Grove Street @ Main Street
  • Route 106 Inbound (Southerly on Main Street):
    • Left onto Upham, Right onto Lebanon - Regular route continues
    • Omits Grove Street & Linwood Avenue
  • Route 106 Outbound (Northerly on Main Street):
    • Lebanon Street to Left onto Upham, Right onto Main Street - Regular route continues
    • 6 stops omitted
  • Connections are Lebanon Street @ Park Street, Lebanon Street @ Malvern Street, Lebanon Street @ Grove Street, and Upham Street @ Main Street
