The Week Ahead: Public Meetings & Events Happening in Melrose
In Melrose, public meetings and events open to all occur every week. All posted agendas can be accessed via this link, http://melrosecityma.iqm2.com/citizens/default.aspx, and public meeting video recordings can be accessed here: https://vimeo.com/mmtv3/ (thanks, MMTV!).
It’s a Good Week for...
- Decorating the…Mitten Tree: To address winter clothing insecurity locally, the Melrose Public Library has launched its Mitten Tree initiative and is collecting new mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves in all sizes to keep heads and hands warm this winter. Drop off these items at the Library’s interim location (the Beebe School) at 261 West Foster St. now through January 3, 2024.
- Did you know that 1 in 3 Massachusetts children are at risk of clothing insecurity?
- Spotting Santa: Santa Claus is coming to town, thanks to Malden City Council President Barbara Murphy and Pine Banks Park Staff. For the 74th time, Santa will visit Pink Banks Park on Saturday, December 16, from 2 to 6 p.m. Children can pose for keepsake photos with Santa, enjoy complimentary cookies and hot chocolate, and, from 2 to 4 p.m., get creative at the arts and crafts table. - Holiday Shopping (Right Downtown!): The City of Melrose launched a downtown holiday Pop-Up shopping experience for the Melrose community at the YMCA Courtyard. Head there this week to shop offerings from botany.flowers and Safo Hair.
- Winter Celebrations: The Council on Aging is hosting its annual Winter Celebration, which includes meal service and entertainment, tomorrow, Tuesday, December 12, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall. There are a few tickets still available at $15. Reserve your spot today by calling the Milano Center at (781)-662-6886.
