The Week Ahead: Public Meetings & Events Happening in Melrose

In Melrose, public meetings and events open to all residents take place every week. All posted agendas can be accessed via this link, http://melrosecityma.iqm2.com/citizens/default.aspx, and public meeting video recordings can be accessed here https://vimeo.com/mmtv3/ (Thanks, MMTV!).

 Events of note:

  • Tonight, the City Council’s FY24 Budget Hearings will continue in the chamber. On the docket tonight are budgets for the Health and Human Services Department and the Council on Aging.  On Thursday, Budget Hearings continue with Municipal Debt and Parking. To view all City of Melrose FY24 budget documents, visit the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget landing page.
  • Tuesday, Melissa Lowry, Public Health Nurse, will be onsite at the Milano Center Carriage House Lounge at 10:00 a.m. to check blood pressure, free of charge. No appointment necessary.
  • Friday, join Mayor Paul Brodeur and the North Shore Juneteenth Association (NSJA) for Melrose’s 3rd Annual Juneteenth Flag-Raising Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. at the Essex St. entrance to City Hall. The event, which celebrates Juneteenth—Emancipation Day— aims to increase public engagement and awareness of the significance of the holiday. The event is free and open to the public.
    • Residents can sign the City’s official Juneteenth Proclamation during the event. Please consider signing and joining our commitment to celebrating and appreciating African American History and our Black community members, and to raising awareness of Juneteenth.
  • Melrose municipal buildings, including the Melrose Public Library, will be closed on Monday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Melrose Police and Fire Stations will remain open.

(New!) Tip of the Week:

This week, we are highlighting a tip from the Melrose Treasurer Collector's office.

Paying bills should be convenient for you.  The Treasurer Collector’s office offers multiple ways to pay your real estate, personal property and excise taxes and water bills.  Find the right method for you!

  • Save a Stamp – drop your payment envelope (no cash, please) in the Gray Box located in the alley between the Post Office and City Hall.  The Gray Box is found past the post office boxes and marked “City Hall payments”.  The payments are collected each morning and no postage is needed
  • Electronic payments – you can pay online at CityHallSystems.com and choose to debit your bank account or use a credit card for payment.  Debits are free, however, the credit card company levies a [x.x%] fee for credit card payments.
  • The Personal Touch – come to the Collector’s Window on the 1st floor of City Hall.  Payments can be made by cash, check, debit card and credit card (fee applies)
  • Traditional – US Mail directly to our lockbox processor
  • Questions about your bill? – Call the Collectors office at 781-979-4120, email us at collections@cityofmelrose.org, or stop by the Collectors Window
  • Parking tickets can also be paid online at kelleyryan.com or at the Collections Window on the 1st floor of City Hall.
