Community Feedback Requested for Melrose Open Space and Recreation Plan

The City of Melrose Office of Planning and Community Development is pleased to present the final draft of the 2023 Open Space and Recreation Plan for public comment and review. Every 7 years, the city updates its Open Space and Recreation Plan to assess the condition of our parks and open spaces, and guide the expansion, enhancement, and preservation of open space and recreation opportunities throughout the city.  

To develop this updated plan, a Working Group, comprised of community members and representatives from a variety of City departments, convened over the past year to review the City’s accomplishments from the 2015 Open Space and Recreation Plan and develop current open space and recreation goals. Additionally, comments and suggestions provided by stakeholders and community members through surveys, focus groups, and an open house event, were incorporated into the document.  

To continue the process of certifying the 2023 Open Space and Recreation Plan, feedback from the community is requested on the draft document, which can be found by clicking here or by following these steps: 

  1. Go to www.cityofmelrose.org 
  2. Under the “Government” tab, click “Office of Planning and Community Development” 
  3. Click the “2023 Open Space and Recreation Plan” tab in the column on the left 

Please submit written comments to Maya Noviski in the Office of Planning and Community Development at mnoviski@cityofmelrose.org.  Comments must be received by September 8, 2023, to be considered in the final planAll comments will be considered, and the final draft of the plan will be submitted to the Division of Conservation Services for approval.
