Winter Community Emergency Response (CERT) Training

Free Training For Residents

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training

Are you interested in community-based preparedness and response? After a very successful training course last spring, the City of Melrose will again offer residents the opportunity to be part of a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

This nationwide program formally educates individuals in disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, team organization, and disaster medical operations. In addition to providing support during an emergency, participants could be called upon as a resource at large events, like parades and festivals.

After completing all 20 hours of training, CERT members will have developed the skills to safely respond to manmade and natural hazards and help organize basic disaster response.

Classes will take place in the Community Room of Wakefield’s Public Safety Building at 1 Union Street.

  • December 10 and 12 from 6 to 10 PM
  • December 17 and 19 from 6 to 10 PM
  • December 21 (simulation exercise) from 10 to 2 PM
