MHS Seniors Braden Marceau-Olayinka and Ella Arens Named Emcees for State of the City Address

Melrose High School seniors Braden Marceau-Olayinka and Ella Arens have been named the masters of ceremonies for Mayor Paul Brodeur’s State of the City Address, which will take place in person at the Driscoll Learning Commons at Melrose High School on Monday, February 27, at 7:30 p.m.

Marceau-Olayinka, who recently signed with Stanford University to play Division 1 Football next fall, and Arens, a theater and chorus performer, have served on the Melrose Alliance Against Violence’s (MAAV) Student Action Board together for the past two years and have been performing the morning announcements at high school since June 2022.

The State of the City will begin with a performance by the well-known local a capella group Blue of a Kind, who will be followed by the National Anthem performed by Melrose High student Nico Mohan,  the Pledge of Allegiance performed by Hudson Kugele and Ben Lagasse, both members of Boy Scout Troop 651, and conclude with remarks and a presentation by Mayor Brodeur.

For community members who cannot attend in person, the State of the City will be recorded and later aired on MMTV via their YouTube channel and local cable channels: 22 for Comcast and 38 for Verizon. MMTV’s YouTube channel can be accessed here: https://www.youtube.com/user/MelroseMATV/videos?app=desktop&amp%3Bview=57.

The State of the City Address, also known as the State of the City Speech, is customarily given once each year by the mayors or city managers of many cities in the United States. Last year, Mayor Brodeur delivered his first State of the City Address virtually.
