Climate and Justice Workshop on February 25

Climate Justice Workshop and Luncheon:  Sunday February 25th at 12:00pm at The Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church located at 70 West Emerson Street in Melrose.

The Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church’s Green Sanctuary Committee invites everyone to attend a chili and chowder luncheon and then join UU Minister, climate activist and singer-songwriter, Rev. Fred Small who will lead us in an interactive workshop entitled, “Give Light:  Spiritual Nurture for Climate Activism”.  Rev. Small invites us to join in meditation, reflection, conversation and song to strengthen our spirits and deepen our resolve in the struggle for climate justice.

Renowned global climate activist and 350.org founder, Bill McKibben, provides these words about Rev. Small:

“Fred Small is one of the true stalwarts of the fight against climate change in this country. He’s gone to jail, he’s written songs, and he’s preached and preached and preached. Here’s how he explained to his congregation that the time for divestment had come: ‘we must work with love for love: to build a love-centered, Earth-centered, justice-centered world to take the place of the one that is crumbling around us. This work is political, but it is also spiritual.’ He’s right.”

This 2 hour workshop is open to all, including youth and older children, who are interested in coming together to build our spirit to take effective action against climate change.  Invite friends and neighbors to join this special event.  Please RSVP to office@melroseuu.org and let us know if you may need childcare.
