What is a Purim Carnival?
The festival of Purim commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in ancient Persia. Of all Jewish holidays, this is the one when people let loose and dress up in silly costumes. We are told to observe Purim as a time of "feasting and gladness" and this has led to the modern day tradition of celebrating with Purim carnivals that feature games and costumes for children.

There is a spirit of liveliness and fun on Purim that is unparalleled on the Jewish calendar.
