Melrose Bank to Sponsor First-Time Homebuyer Certification Course

Melrose Bank is sponsoring a first-time homebuyer certification course in partnership with Community Teamwork, Inc. The two-session course will take place on Saturday, May 11thand Saturday, May 18thfrom 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Melrose located at 645 Main Street. Participants who complete this Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) approved course will receive the certificate required for loan programs offered by MassHousing and other agencies. 

The course will cover topics including: household budgeting, getting a mortgage, working with a realtor, selecting a home inspector, the role of the attorney, MassHousing programs, and other financing options. 

“A range of financing programs are available in Massachusetts to help make homeownership an attainable goal,” said Jeffrey Jones, Melrose Bank President and CEO. “By completing this course, prospective first-time buyers will gain access to these programs and develop a better understanding of the buying process.”
