Eagle Scout Court of Honor

I want to congratulate Melrose’s four newest Eagle Scouts, Kyle G. Brooks, Ryan Radzik, Ryan M. Sikkema, and Adam R. Lehman, who were awarded this rank at the Court of Honor on April 7. To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, each of these young men created and managed a project that benefits the community. This usually includes raising any necessary funds and leading a team of volunteers. Here’s a quick look at each of their projects:

Kyle Brooks partnered with the City of Melrose Recycling Committee to create a video public service announcement encouraging proper recycling procedures. He coordinated a team of volunteers to write a script, build a set, act, film, and edit the video.

Ryan Radzik installed new bleachers at the Incarnation Baseball League fields, where he played baseball for eight years. The bleachers provide new seating for those watching regular baseball games and also T-ball games.

Ryan Sikkema also was motivated by his time in the Incarnation Baseball League to make improvements to those fields. For his project, he worked with the league, the Incarnation Church, an architect, an engineer, a building inspector, contractors, and over 60 volunteers to design, excavate, and build new roofs over the dugouts on the league’s “Major League” field.

Adam Lehman took on the restoration of veterans’ grave markers at Wyoming Cemetery for his project. He researched the methods used at Arlington National Cemetery, raised funds, trained volunteers, and organized and supervised the project.

I want to thank all four of these young men for their service to the community and commend them on earning the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America.
