SUPPORTING THE JOURNEY:
May 25th Auction and Raffle to Support Local Asylum Seekers

Might you be interested in a week near the ocean? Perhaps you prefer a weekend getaway oceanside (Maine) or in the mountains (Vermont). If you want to stay around town, would you like a yearlong membership to the zoo, an electronic piano, yardwork, tickets to movies or the Museum of Fine Arts, soup delivered to your door each month, quilts, framed paintings, lithographs and/or photographs? How about an adult Story Hour, or a Laughter Yoga session? Or maybe you want a raffle basket filled with 14 bottles of wine and champagne, or one with art supplies, with dog delights, with teas, and so on and so on.

On Saturday night, May 25th, at 7:30 PM, Melrose, Winchester, and Malden congregations will co-sponsor an Auction and Raffle to support local asylum seekers fleeing persecution. Funds raised will help with housing, transportation, day-to-day needs and emotional support. For thirty years, area houses of worship have worked to guide and support asylum seekers in becoming self-sufficient as they begin their journey here in our neighborhoods.

Enjoy the raffle, auction, and entertainment by the a cappella group Blue of A Kind. The ticket price includes finger food and a glass of wine or beer. Temple Beth Shalom will host the event at 21 East Foster Street in Melrose. You can buy tickets for $20 in advance or $25 at the door. To purchase tickets and view a partial list of auction and raffle items, you may want to browse www.TBSMA.org.

The co-sponsoring houses of worship, who work together on an ongoing basis, include (alphabetically) the First Congregational Church of Melrose, First Congregational Church of Winchester, First Lutheran Church of Malden, Melrose Highlands Congregational Church, Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church, and Temple Beth Shalom.
