The Week Ahead: Public Meetings & Events Happening in Melrose

In Melrose, public meetings and events open to all occur every week. All posted agendas can be accessed via this link, http://melrosecityma.iqm2.com/citizens/default.aspx, and public meeting video recordings can be accessed here: https://vimeo.com/mmtv3/ (thanks, MMTV!).

It’s a Good Week for...

  • Giving Back (Locally): The last Tuesday of the month of November is known as “Giving Tuesday.” According to GivingTuesday.org, this day of giving was founded in 2012 as a day that encourages people to do good. Melrose community members looking to give back tomorrow can consider donating to the Melrose Emergency Fund or “adopting” an older adult. Learn more by reading the City News article, “How to Give Back Locally This Giving Tuesday.”
  • Preparing for the Holidays (With Melrose Small Business Owners!): The City of Melrose launched a downtown holiday Pop-Up shopping experience for the Melrose community at the YMCA Courtyard. Head there this week to check out offerings from Melrose residents and business owners Jill Paz Illustrations and Meesh Pottery.
  • Seasonal Transitions (For DPW): This coming Saturday, December 2, is the last Saturday the City Yard will be open until April 2024. The City Yard will continue to be open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. In addition, after December 2, mattresses will no longer be accepted for drop-off at the City Yard until April 2024. To learn more, visit the Department of Public Works' homepage for the City Yard.

Tonight's special School Committee meeting (Interview with MPS Superintendent Candidate Tahiliani) has been canceled. Ms. Tahiliani has elected to withdraw her candidacy for the position. The School Committee can be reached for questions at schoolcomittee@cityofmelrose.org.
