We’re excited to bring back the City of Melrose Summer Work Program, which offers a unique opportunity for growth and learning. Applications for Temporary DPW Summer Helpers are now open! We welcome anyone aged 16 and above to apply. While residency is not a requirement, Melrose residents or Melrose Public School students will be given priority.

Safety Tips for Viewing the Solar Eclipse: A solar eclipse will occur across the United States on Wednesday, April 8, 2024, and will be visible in Massachusetts between 2 and 4:30 p.m. Melrose Public Health Nurse Melissa Lowry, RN, curated a list of top safety tips for viewing an eclipse. A Public Safety Buildings Project Update: In the latest episode of The Melrose Minute, Mayor Jen and City Planner Denise Gaffey discuss the Public Safety Buildings Project, the City’s initiative to enhance our community's safety and well-being. Registering for Summer Recreation Programs: Registration opens for Melrose Summer Recreation Programs on Wednesday, April 10, at 9 a.m. To browse the Department’s Summer Brochure and register for a summer camp, clinic, event, or program, visit www.cityofmelrose.org/recreation. Verifying if You’re Eligible for the IRS’ New Direct File Program:
The IRS has launched a pilot program called Direct File, which allows eligible taxpayers to file their taxes directly with the IRS for free. Taxes can be filed in English or Spanish. For more information, visit www.irs.gov/ and select “File your taxes for free.”
