Good evening, Melrose,

We are pleased to announce that the City of Melrose has been awarded $3 million in FY24 federal funding to support the design and construction of our new net zero police station.

The funding was secured via a federal funding budget bill by United States Senators Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), with support from Massachusetts State Representative Kate Lipper-Garabedian (D-32) and Massachusetts State Senator Jason Lewis (D-32). For complete information, read the full announcement here: www.cityofmelrose.org/federalfundingaward

Melrose Will Gain Nearly 100 New Trees This Spring

A picture containing outdoor, sky, grass, houseMelrose is about to gain nearly 100 new trees thanks to a collaboration between our Department of Public Works staff and YOU, our residents!

Every year, Melrose DPW accepts tree requests from residents through our Annual Tree Planting Program. While the wait list for planting a tree is 1-2 years, it's well worth it.

Since establishing the current program led by the Melrose Engineering Division in 2017, we’ve planted over 700 trees along Melrose’s tree belt.

Learn more about the City's Annual Tree Planting Program, including our Tree Planting Guidelines, what the process of caring for the new trees looks like, and more, by visiting www.cityofmelrose.org/treeplantingprogram.
