Wayfinding Initiative: City Announces Call for Art and New Virtual Community Meeting Date on June 3

Over the past several months, the City of Melrose has been engaged in a Wayfinding & Creative Placemaking Initiative to develop public art and multi-modal signage that speaks to the City’s past and present. The City has just released a Call for Art and we are seeking artists to create site-specific works of public art as part of this grant-funded Initiative. Projects may be between $1,000 and 10,000, inclusive of all expenses. We have selected several sites throughout the City and encourage teams of artists to apply. Proposals are due by June 15, 2020 at 5PM.

In addition, on Wednesday, June 3rd at 7PM (NEW MEETING DATE!), the City and our consultant team will host a Virtual Community Meeting to share updates on the Wayfinding & Creative Placemaking Initiative and seek your input.=

The meeting will include:

  • What we have been hearing from the public so far, including survey and focus group results
  • Interactive voting on public art concepts and future signage
  • A Q & A session for the Call for Art
