Water Main Break Lynn Fells Parkway & Tremont Street

The City of Melrose, in conjunction with the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is addressing a MWRA water main break near the intersection the Lynn Fells Parkway and Tremont St. While situation is developing, as of writing we anticipate disruptions to the Wednesday morning commute, particularly to the Roosevelt School, Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School, and Melrose High School. Please plan ahead for your AM commute, and if possible make arrangements to walk or bike instead of drive.

We will provide more information as the situation develops.

UPDATE 11:39 PM: MWRA crews are currently at work. Vinton St. from Lynn Fells Parkway to Glen Road will remain closed to vehicles and pedestrians at least until the end of the day tomorrow and until further notice. 

UPDATE 6:07 AM: Vinton St. will remain closed from Lynn Fells Parkway to Glen St. People driving or walking to the Roosevelt School from the south will be directed to go up Sewall Woods Road to come out at the horseshoe at the back of the school. This drop-off area will be accessible. Those walking or driving to the High School/MVMMS will have full access to the Parkway, as well as sidewalks on one side of the road within the impacted area.
