Video Update for May 8

This is Mayor Paul Brodeur

So many of you have pitched in to help with our undertaking to deliver face masks to every household and I am very grateful. Because of your hard work, all the masks and information were packaged and are ready for delivery.

Unfortunately, Monday’s forecast calls for rain. That threatens to damage the masks and makes door-to-door deliveries challenging. AS a result, deliveries will begin in the morning on Tuesday May 12. Volunteers will hear from Melrose Helps by email to coordinate Tuesday’s logistics. While we will not be offering a self-pick-up alternative, rest assured that we do have a plan for delivering to apartment buildings, condos and multifamily houses.

Also, the City Yard will be open again this Saturday for yard waste and recycling drop-off only. Only one or two vehicles will be allowed into the yard at any time, and you must wear a mask and practice physical distancing at all times for your safety and the safety of our employees. Thank you for your cooperation.

Tonight I am joined by a special guest - Melrose photographer Raj Das, who is going to talk to us tonight about a great project he is working on. Raj – thanks for joining me.

Don’t forget that tonight we will #ClapBecauseWeCare at 7 in support of our front-line workers – with special thanks to all our nurses during this Nurse Appreciation Week. And Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there, especially my mom Lia!

With some many great moms out there, I know that together, we will get through this!
