Tonight: Melrose Energy Commission: Net Zero Energy Building Presentation

The City of Melrose has joined thirteen other metro Boston communities to be Net Zero by 2050. One strategy to meet that goal is to through Zero Net Energy buildings. Join the Melrose Energy Commission at their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 22nd at 7:15 PM at the Milano Center, 201 W. Foster Street in Melrose to learn more about this concept. Free and open to the public.
 
Guest speaker Conor McGuire will provide an overview of Zero Net Energy Buildings. What are these terms and what do they mean? How are they designed and built? After talking about the basic guiding principles and constraints of Zero Net Energy Buildings, he’ll review a case study of the Massachusetts Fisheries and Wildlife building project, followed by an open discussion. 
 
Conor McGuire is Director of Sustainability for Columbia Construction and is involved with many green building projects from start to finish, including Massachusetts’s first Zero Net Energy (ZNE) office building. He is also a Melrose resident and has volunteered his time over the years to establish the city's first dog park with the Melrose Dog Society, save the Boston Rubber Shoe Company Smoke Stack with the Melrose Historical Commission, and establish the first DCR bike lane in Melrose and first city bike lane with the Melrose Pedestrian & Bicycle Advisory Committee.
