Storm Update: March 7, 2018

Our current weather forecasts indicate that the rain will switch to snow around 6 p.m. this evening, and we expect the snow to continue through the night. This will be a heavy, wet snow so please use caution.

DPW crews will be out treating the roads through the evening commute, and we will switch to plowing overnight.

On-street parking will be banned from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. in order to allow the plows to clear the streets.

The Melrose Public Library will close at 5 p.m. today. All school buildings will close at 6 p.m. and all evening school activities are cancelled.

The phones at the DPW Storm Center will be staffed until 10 p.m. tonight, and after 6 a.m. tomorrow. Please call them at 781-665-0142 with any storm-related problems or questions. When DPW is closed, call 911.

Once again, wind gusts are forecasted and could potentially cause power issues. Please contact National Grid at 1-800-322-3223, or go to their website at http://www.nationalgrid.com and access your issue by entering your address or account number. If you have downed wires or an emergency, please contact the Melrose Police or Fire Departments.

Trash and recycling pickup will be on their regular schedule. We ask if possible to please place items curbside tomorrow morning, rather than tonight.
