Storm Update: March 20, 2018

While there is still considerable uncertainty about the snowstorm forecast for tomorrow, we are fairly confident that the snow will begin in the late morning/early afternoon, so the greatest impact will be on the evening commute. The total amount of snow may be as little as 5 inches or more than 12 inches.

With that in mind, here is some information about what to expect on Wednesday:

  • The Traffic Commission meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 28, at 5:30 p.m.
  • The library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
  • The Veterans Food Bank scheduled at Memorial Hall for Wednesday, March 21, is cancelled due to the Greater Boston Food Bank being closed. The March pickup will not be rescheduled; the next one will be April 18, 2018
  • Wednesday trash and recycling will be picked up on schedule.
  • Please be a good neighbor and shovel the sidewalk in front of your house. Please keep catch basins and fire hydrants clear of snow as well. Here is a list of high school students who can be hired to shovel.
  • If you have any snow-related problems or questions, please call the City Yard Operations Center at 781-665-0142.
  • For power outages, you can call National Grid directly at 1-800-322-3223, or go to their website at http://www.nationalgrid.com and access your issue by entering your address or account number. If you have downed wires or an emergency, please contact the Melrose Police or Fire Departments.

Stay tuned for updates as the storm progresses.
