Snow Update: March 1, 2019

Winter isn’t over yet! We are expecting snow to start falling overnight and last until early Saturday afternoon. Forecasts also predict a second, possibly more severe, snowstorm that will arrive on Sunday evening and continue into Monday morning, possibly switching to a mix of sleet, ice, and rain.

The Department of Public Works is planning ahead for the possible double storm. Here is what you need to know:

  • Crews will be in between 4 and 6 a.m. and we will have a full plowing operation during the peak of the storm. The plan is to clear all streets, corners, school grounds, and the areas around municipal buildings, as well as sidewalks on the walk-to-school routes, by the end of the day so we will be in good shape heading into the second storm.
  • There will not be a parking ban beyond the standard ban on on-street parking between 2 and 6 a.m. However, we ask people to stay off the road as much as possible on Saturday morning and Sunday evening, and try to avoid parking on the street so the crews can get them cleared.
  • The library will be open on its regular schedule.
  • The gyms at the Lincoln, Roosevelt, middle school, and high school will be open for planned activities, but please check with the organizer of your activity to make sure it will still take place.
  • Existing construction sites have been shut down until after the storms have passed.
  • The DPW office will be open tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., so please call them at 781-665-0142 with any snow-related questions or problems.

We will continue to update you over the weekend.
