A Message from the Melrose Department of Public Works

A winter weather advisory is in effect for most of Massachusetts until 4 a.m. on Friday due to snow, sleet, and freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service.

Before ice develops under the snow on Friday morning, the City encourages residents to shovel and treat their driveways, walkways, and sidewalks, and clear their catch basins as soon as possible in an effort to help the DPW crew members who are continuing to treat City roads, gutters, and sidewalks, creating safer driving and walking conditions for all residents.

The DPW and contractors worked together to clear the snow, treat the roads and public walkways, and parking lots overnight and through this morning. Crews will be kept on this evening to keep up with salting and make sure gutters are cleared.

The City is expecting a challenging commute this evening and tomorrow morning due to dropping temps, so please stay off the roads if possible.

For any non-emergency snow related inquiries, please contact the Department of Public Works at (781) 665-0142.
