MelroseKind Launches Sock Drive in Honor of the Late Scott Forbes

Local charity MelroseKind has launched a sock drive in honor of the late Scott Forbes, a much beloved Melrose resident and “Kindness Warrior” who passed away in March.

The charity invites residents to honor Scott for the month of May by donating new socks for veterans. Socks can be dropped off at the kindness porch, located at 249 Grove Street.

“This month’s drive is an important one because, with every sock donated, we are honoring Scott Forbes,” said Maribeth Darwin. “Scott wasn't just a wonderful guy and committed community member, he was also a Kindness Warrior of the highest degree. Scott was one of the very first Melrosians to embrace our mission. When we talked to him about MelroseKind, I can distinctly hear him saying, ‘I like it! I like it!’”

New socks are the most requested items by the housing insecure, and homeless veterans were near and dear to Scott's heart. Please join MelroseKind this month in overwhelming their kindness porch with as many socks as possible.

Every pair of socks donated will be delivered to Scott's mission at the Veterans Northeast Outreach Center.

“We will never forget you, Scott, and promise to make you proud in continuing this important work.”
