Melrose St. Water Main Break: Impacts and Updates

Melrose St. Water Main Break: Impacts and Updates

As a result of the water main break affecting the area of Melrose St., Main St., Ashland St., and Lynn Fells Parkway, the Department of Public Works (DPW) has canceled today’s hydrant flushing. The cancelation has impacted the hydrant flushing schedule, which has been updated on the DPW’s webpage. View the updated schedule.

In order for the DPW to repair the water main break, the DPW has also temporarily closed a small segment of Melrose St. at the intersection of the Lynn Fells Parkway, so please seek alternate routes.

After the DPW repairs the water main break, water may appear discolored or cloudy; running cold water until it is clear should resolve any discoloration.

Please note that area residents were notified of the shutdown and potential impacts via the City’s Everbridge notification system. To sign up to receive these notifications, visit https://www.cityofmelrose.org/emergency-management/pages/emergency-notification-system-city-news
