Renovations at Melrose schools are well underway this summer.

Melrose Public Schools with current or upcoming projects include the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School, the City’s six elementary schools: Franklin, Hoover, Horace Mann, Winthrop, Lincoln and Roosevelt, and Fred Green Memorial Field at the Melrose High School Athletic Complex.

Additionally, last year, Melrose High School received elevator upgrades with an allocation of the City’s ARPA funding and a State Earmark.

Supported by funding from a Free Cash Appropriation, the Franklin School was able to install new windows. The Middle School, Winthrop, Lincoln and Roosevelt schools were included in a project consisting of $170,000 in LED Energy Savings from the FY2023 Operating Budget.

New roofs are currently being installed at the Hoover and Horace Mann schools, which is scheduled to be completed before the first day of school. These projects are funded by the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) through the Accelerated Repair Program and through free cash and bonds. Solect Energy will be adding the installation of rooftop solar on both buildings through a Power Purchase Agreement once the roof replacements are complete. These panels will be installed in the fall.
