Melrose Elections Office Encourages Residents to Make a Plan to Vote

The Melrose Elections Office reminds residents that the Preliminary Mayoral election is Tuesday, September 19, 2023.  Registered voters can cast their ballots by mail, through in-person early voting or in person on Election Day. 

Vote by mail - submit a vote-by-mail ballot application to the Melrose Election Office.  Applications are available here as well as on the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website. Ballot applications may be submitted in person at City Hall, by mail or emailed to elections@cityofmelrose.org. The deadline to submit a vote-by-mail application for the upcoming election is Tuesday, September 12, 2023, by 5:00 p.m.  

In-person early voting – visit the Election Office located on the first floor of City Hall (562 Main St.) on the following dates:  

Wednesday September 6, 2023, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 
Friday September 8, 2023, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. 
Tuesday, September 12, 2023, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

In-person on election day – on September 19, residents will vote at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School gym complex (entrance is 90 Melrose Street). Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. 

Be sure you are registered! 

Check your registration status and register to vote through the Secretary of State or www.RegisterToVoteMA.com. The registration deadline is September 8, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.  

Important Deadlines:  

  • September 8th - 5:00 p.m., deadline to register to vote in Preliminary Mayoral election. 
  • September 12th - 5:00 p.m., deadline to submit a vote-by-mail application.  
  • September 19th - 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Election Day. Polls are open.
