Join Mayor Paul Brodeur in kicking-off summer at the upcoming Mayor’s Summer Block Party happening in Downtown Melrose this Friday, June 17! Coinciding with the last of school for Melrose Public Schools, the family-friendly party will run from 6 – 9:00 p.m.

To create a welcoming community environment, Main Street and Essex Street will be closed to vehicles during the Block Party. Mayor Brodeur encourages you to walk or bike to the event!

“The Block Party provides the community with a great opportunity to come out to support Melrose businesses, gather with family, friends, and neighbors, and above all have fun,” said Mayor Brodeur.  “I’m thankful for Lauren Grymek, the City’s Director of Economic Development, for putting this night of events together and I’m particularly looking forward to hosting local musicians and artists.”

Show Your Support for Melrose Businesses:

During the Block Party, many Downtown Melrose businesses are offering extended hours and services, sales and specials, or unique activities for residents to learn more about them. Come out to patronize businesses both familiar and new to you. The City thanks the Melrose Chamber of Commerce for its collaboration and support and for their continued work to support Melrose’s small business community.

Enjoy Live Entertainment and Art Demonstrations:

The City of Melrose will host free, live musical entertainment along Essex Street in front of City Hall to showcase a variety of local talent. Friday’s lineup includes music by Jesse DeLaurier, The Paul Rutley Experiment, Sam Chetkin and The Emersons. On Lower Main Street, DJ Frixx will play music for all to enjoy.

The City will also host several Melrose artists along Main Street who will demonstrate their work to the public, some of which will be interactive. The City thanks Melrose Arts and Follow Your Art Community Studios for their collaboration with this event.  Please note that masks are optional, and we encourage attendees to continue to take precautions to fight the spread of COVID-19.
