MBTA: Orange Line Transformation Program Update

The MBTA Orange Line Transformation Program today provided the following information concerning Orange Line track work from Tuesday, November 7, 2023, to Friday, November 10, 2023.

Shuttle Bus service will replace Orange Line service from North Station to Oak Grove Station from Tuesday, November 7, 2023, to Friday, November 10, 2023, beginning at 9 p.m. each night for track work.

About the Orange Line Transformation Program

As part of the Capital Transformation Program, the Orange Line Transformation (OLT) is upgrading the 120-year-old rapid transit line serving the communities of Malden, Medford, Somerville, and Boston.

According to the MBTA, the OLT Program will result in faster, more comfortable trips, as well as less crowding. The program will also support the expansion of the Orange Line fleet, which will create space for 30,000 more riders per day. Achieving this requires major upgrades to train yards, maintenance facilities, testing facilities, signals, and power systems.
