MBTA to Host Two Upcoming Virtual Public Meetings Including Tonight's Better Bus Meeting
The MBTA will host two upcoming meetings that are relevant to the Melrose community. Tonight, June 22, the MBTA will host the Bus Network Redesign - Minuteman & Metro North (Better Bus) virtual public meeting at 6:00 p.m. On June 30, the MBTA will host the Accelerating Wellington Yard Reliability Upgrades virtual public meeting at 6:00 p.m. More information, including how to register for the meetings, can be found below.
June 22: Bus Network Redesign - Minuteman & Metro North (Better Bus) Virtual Public Meeting
The Bus Network Redesign is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make bold improvements to the bus network for the people who depend on it most. The MBTA is proposing a better bus network and want to hear what you think. At this meeting, MBTA staff will provide an in-depth presentation on the proposed network map and lead small group discussions.
This meeting will focus on the Minuteman & Metro North, which include the following towns: Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Burlington, Lexington, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester and Woburn. June 30: Accelerating Wellington Yard Reliability Upgrades
The MBTA is inviting the Melrose community to join the Capital Transformation Team for an online public meeting to learn about Accelerating Wellington Yard Reliability Upgrades.
The virtual public meeting (via Zoom) will take place on Thursday June 30, 2022 at 6:00 PM. This August, they will have a full access closure planned to replace over 7,000 feet of track, 4 units of special trackwork, and 2,300 feet of third rail. Capital Transformation will be replacing the tracks that connect Wellington Yard to the mainline, which requires a mainline outage.
Capital Transformation is also working with other departments within the MBTA to identify additional trackwork along the Orange Line to amplify results during the 30-day period.
