Mayor Brodeur to Host Summer Block Party on Last Day of School

block party

Join Mayor Paul Brodeur in kicking-off summer at the upcoming Mayor’s Summer Block Party happening in Downtown Melrose on Friday, June 17! Coinciding with the last of school for Melrose Public Schools, the family-friendly party will run from 6 – 9:00 p.m.

The Block Party will provide a great opportunity for family, friends, and neighbors to come out to support Melrose businesses – eat, dine, and shop outside and inside, listen to live music on Essex Street, watch a variety of Melrose artists at work along Main Street, and participate in fun activities.

To create a welcoming community environment, Main Street and Essex Street will be closed to vehicles during the Block Party. Mayor Brodeur encourages you to walk or bike to the event!

“I’m thrilled to host our first-ever Block Party to promote Melrose’s vibrant downtown in support of our small businesses,” says Mayor Paul Brodeur. “We've heard from so many community members about how much they value these opportunities to gather in one place for a fun evening out. We’re particularly excited to be including local musicians and artists, and I’d like to thank Lauren Grymek, the City’s Director of Economic Development, for recognizing the importance of providing ways to bring local artists, businesses owners, and community members together.”

Melrose Businesses Are Encouraged to Participate

Downtown Melrose businesses are encouraged to participate in this community event through offering extended hours and services, sales and specials, or unique activities for residents to learn more about your business. It’s your opportunity to show off what makes your business so special! The City thanks the Melrose Chamber of Commerce for its collaboration and support.

Support for the Arts

The City of Melrose will host free, live musical entertainment along Essex Street in front of City Hall to showcase a variety of local talent. The City will also support several Melrose artists along Main Street who will demonstrate their work to the public. The City thanks Melrose Arts for their collaboration with this event.

Show your support for Melrose’s downtown and plan to come to the Summer Block Party on June 17th!  Additional details about event activities will be announced soon. For general questions about the event, please contact the Mayor’s Office at 781-979-4440.
