For the remainder of the month of August, MelroseKind will be collecting donations of shampoo/conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and grocery store gift cards in support of the Boston Refugee and Immigration Assistance Center (RIAC). Donations will be used to fill the RIAC Welcome Baskets for immigrants and refugees.

Donated items can be brought to the Melrose Mayor’s Office, City Hall, 2nd Floor, 562 Main Street, Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Donations can also be brought to Melrose Kindness Porches 24 hours/day, or ordered through Amazon Wish List:

  • 89 Walton Park
  • 160 West Wyoming
  • 647 Main St (Follow Your Art)
  • 249 Grove Street
  • Amazon Wish List

This past year, RIAC assisted over 850 refugees in the greater Boston Area. While refugees wait for the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) to process SNAP (food stamp) benefits, grocery store gift cards are essential to filling the gap. All Venmo donations to MelroseKind through the end of August will be used to purchase grocery store gift cards for RIAC. Donations can be made to @melrosekind on Venmo or by clicking here.

Each month, MelroseKind hosts a different drive to support local charitable organizations. Follow MelroseKind on Facebook and Instagram, and subscribe to their newsletter at melrosekind.com. Please contact Maribeth Darwin with any questions by emailing maribeth@melrosekind.com.
