MELROSE, MA—Amid rising COVID-19 cases across the state, Mayor Paul Brodeur announced that masks will be required in all municipal buildings beginning Monday, August 16th. Masks must be worn by all employees and visitors.

This mandate follows the CDC guidance that individuals should mask in public indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status, in areas with “substantial” or “high” transmission. Middlesex county is an area with substantial transmission. 

Municipal buildings include: City Hall, 562 Main St., the City Yard, 72 Tremont St., the Council on Aging, 235 W Foster St, the Fire Department, 576 Main St., Memorial Hall, 590 Main St., the Police Department, 56 W Foster St., and the Public Library, 69 W Emerson St.
