July 25 is Community Night at the Melrose Americans Game!

Date: Thu, July 25
Time: First Pitch 7:30pm
Location: Morelli Baseball Field
Cost: Free!

The City of Melrose will team up with its hometown team the Melrose Americans of the Intercity League on Thursday, July 25th for family fun at Morelli Field during the Americans game against the Andre Chiefs.  The Melrose Recreation Department will be offering free slush, games, face painting, entertainment, music, and more.   All kids are encouraged to wear their t-ball / little league / softball shirts.  Kids 8 years and older are invited to come on to the field starting at 6:30pm to help shag balls in the outfield during the Americans batting practice. At 7:15pm we invite all kids in their t-ball / little league / softball shirts to join the Americans on the third base line for the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner and the throwing of the first pitch by Mayor Gail Infurna.  First pitch will be at 7:30pm with all recreation activities beginning at that time.  We will be inviting kids to announce the players as they come to bat from the press box for the first three innings.  At the beginning of the 3rdinning we will be encouraging kids to volunteer in the “Ice Bucket Challenge” to honor Pete Frates and raise awareness of ALS.  Pete Frates played in the Intercity League and we will be collecting donations to support the Pete Frates Fund during the game.  Anyone who contributes $50 will be recognized with an official Melrose Americans hat or shirt.  Join us for this fun community night!   For more information on the Intercity League and the Melrose Americans can be found at http://www.intercityleaguebaseball.com/.
