Join the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk Organized by MHS Senior on October 8th

Melrose High School Senior Emily Lucien is organizing the 18th annual Breast Friends Walk to support breast cancer awareness and research on Sunday, October 8, at 9:30 a.m. at Devereux Beach in Marblehead. Emily organizes the event in honor of her mother who passed away from breast cancer in 2019.

Mayor Paul Brodeur, who is one of many 2023 Breast Friends Walk sponsors, encourages Melrose residents to strap on their walking shoes on October 8 in support of Emily and to help local breast cancer patients receive the care they need.

“I am proud to support breast cancer research and awareness as well as Melrose resident Emily Lucien and her family who have experienced a tremendous loss,” said Mayor Paul Brodeur. “By joining the Breast Friends Walk on October 8th, we can help breast cancer patients resolve barriers to care, including screenings that are critical to their treatment.”

The cost to walk is $25, and the funds raised will help patients at MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center access assistance with transportation, childcare, scheduling appointments, and language barriers so they can complete critical breast cancer screenings that help detect cancer early and save lives.

Walkers can register as an individual, as part of an existing team, or create a new team. To register, visit https://giving.massgeneral.org/events/2023breastfriends/. Donations will also be accepted between now & and November 1.
