Healthy Melrose Returns Online on May 9

Although the annual Healthy Melrose health fair had to be canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a group of the participants have created an online alternative.

The online Healthy Melrose Family Wellness and Fitness Fair will kick off on May 9, the date the original Healthy Melrose was to take place, and will run for 21 days. The theme is the “4 Ms” of wellness:

  • Mindfulness: Nutrition (making healthy choices), meditation, stress management
  • Movement: Exercise or simply being active
  • Meaningfulness: Doing something that is important to you daily, such as a workout, spending time with children, pets, or loved ones; making connections.
  • Mastery: Mastering healthy habits, drinking more water, taking time for yourself

The first week’s events will be coordinated by fit life, the second by HINGE Fitness, and the third by MOVE Individualized Fitness. The Melrose Family YMCA will coordinate children’s events, and the Melrose Farmer’s Market, the City of Melrose, and a variety of local organizations and fitness providers will also participate.

While there is no charge for the online event, participants are encouraged to “pay it forward” by buying gift cards to local businesses from the Melrose Chamber of Commerce or donating to one of the Healthy Melrose vendors to supply food, smoothies, or thank-you cards to frontline workers.
