Commission on Disability Invites Melrose Residents to Join Upcoming Meetings, Comment on City’s ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan

In addition to the reports being available for review online, a physical copy of each report are available at the Melrose Public Library.
ADA Self-Assessment & Transition Plan

The City of Melrose’s Commission on Disability (COD) has set the dates for its two upcoming meetings that will serve as an opportunity for the Melrose community to provide feedback on the City’s recently released ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan reports. Community members are encouraged to review the reports prior to the meetings, which will take place virtually on Monday, February 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., and in person on Wednesday, February 15, at the Cassidy Conference room at City Hall.

The City's ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan Part 1 includes an executive summary, an evaluation of nondiscrimination policies and practices, and a legal overview, and the City's ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan Part 2 includes an evaluation of City facilities, school buildings, and outdoor facilities, and provides recommendations for best practices and inclusive designs.

Community members who attend either or both meetings are encouraged to make comments any time during each two-hour timeframe. Community members can also continue to make comments by email to ADAfeedback@cityofmelrose.org. The deadline for emailed comments is February 24.

The Commission on Disability (COD) was established in 2020 by Mayor Paul Brodeur. Since its establishment, the COD has undertaken a series of activities to advance the inclusion of people with disabilities in the City of Melrose.
