City of Melrose Shifts From Interface to Statewide Helpline for Mental Health Support

Massachusetts BHHL logo

The City of Melrose has officially moved from Interface Referral Services and will be utilizing Massachusetts' new Behavioral Health Help Line (BHHL) which went live on Jan. 3, 2023. This service offers direct connection to mental health and substance use care for Massachusetts residents – no insurance needed.

Melrose Health and Human Services thanks Interface Referral Services for their service to the City and help with the transition to the BHHL. This shift comes at a time when mental health needs have risen, and the state is expanding mental health services.

The BHHL is available in more than 200 languages, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through phone, text, and online chat. It is operated by clinically trained staff who will determine the care that best fits residents’ needs. Callers can expect to be connected directly to treatment services.

This is a general hotline for anyone who needs help and would like to be referred to a professional. BHHL professionals can provide mental health assessments, substance use treatment, referrals and more, with options in all communities. Help Line staff remain on the line until callers are connected to their next step.

In the case of an emergency, Melrose residents should call 911 and can call (800) 988-1111 to be connected to the nearest Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) or go directly to the CBHC which is located at Eliot Community Health Services on 95 Pleasant St, Lynn, MA 01901.

If you are in need of mental health or substance use help, call or text the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Help Line at 833-773-2445 or chat online at masshelpline.com.
