City of Melrose and Green Energy Consumer Alliance to Deliver Electric Vehicle 101 Webinar

EV Webinar

The City of Melrose and Drive Green experts from Green Energy Consumer Alliance are partnering to deliver an Electric Vehicle 101 webinar intended to equip Melrose residents with the information they need to begin their EV journey on Wednesday, February 15, at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

Register in Advance

Register in advance for the webinar via the City calendar at https://www.cityofmelrose.org/ElectricVehicle101. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

The webinar will also serve to help residents navigate the EV market and the recent changes to the Massachusetts MOR-EV program, which issues rebates to electric vehicle drivers, and new federal tax incentives under the federal Inflation Reduction Act. The City offers access to a wealth of consumer EV information on the Drive Green website at https://info.greenenergyconsumers.org/melrose.

“Electrifying all modes of transportation is a key component of the Melrose Net Zero Action Plan to reduce carbon pollution from fossil fuels,” said Martha Grover, Sustainability Manager for the City of Melrose “This webinar is ideal for anyone considering buying an electric vehicle and is a great opportunity to have all of your EV questions answered by experts in the field.”

Although 80% of electric vehicle charging takes place at home, Melrose has 19 public charging stations in 15 locations throughout the city. Residents can find the exact locations by downloading the Plugshare App on a smart phone. The newest EV chargers are mounted on utility poles and are the first of their kind on the east coast. They are convenient and easy to use, and at 20 cents per kWh to charge at Melrose stations, it costs less than $5 to “fill your tank”.

Any residents who already own an EV and would like to be added to a list for the next citywide EV Showcase are invited to send an email with their name and EV make and model to Melrose Sustainability Manager, Martha Grover, at mgrover@cityofmelrose.org. The fifth showcase of locally owned EVs will take place sometime this spring.
