1/28 Weekend Storm Update: Parking Ban, Reporting Downed Wires & More

A major snowstorm affecting Melrose could result in an accumulation of as many as 24 inches, according to the National Weather Service. The snow is expected to begin overnight on Friday evening and continue through Saturday evening.

The City of Melrose Department of Public Works will be working hard to keep the streets safe and clear for you. The City asks that you please be patient, as our plow drivers work efficiently and safely to clear the snow.

We would appreciate everyone's assistance in clearing catch basins, fire hydrants, and sidewalks in their neighborhood after the storm.

Parking Ban Will Be in Effect

The City of Melrose will implement an emergency parking ban from 12:00a.m. on Saturday 1/28 until 12:00p.m. on Sunday 1/30. On-street parking is prohibited during this time, cars parked on the street will be subject to fines and will be towed. 

Driving Conditions

The National Weather Service expects high winds during the storm that will result in extremely low visibility for both drivers and pedestrians. The City encourages everyone to stay off the roads on Saturday as much as possible, to give plow operators the room they need to effectively plow our streets.

CALL 911 immediately and DO NOT approach or touch any downed wires. Assume every wire is live.
