Cable License Renewal Ascertainment Hearing

The City of Melrose’s Verizon and Comcast licenses expire respectively on June 26, 2022 (Verizon) and December 13, 2022 (Comcast). The federal Cable Act, 47 USC 546, requires a public proceeding to ascertain the community’s cable-related needs and interests as part of the license renewal process applicable to expiring cable licenses.
Public comment is invited regarding the City’s Verizon and Comcast license renewal needs going forward and regarding cable operator past performance. In addition to the in-person public hearing at City Hall, the hearing may be viewed on Comcast Channel 22 and Verizon Channel 38. Interested persons may also attend and directly participate remotely.
