PLEASE READ
- Creating the account: Please use an email address that you will pay attention to. This will be the email address that receives all “ready for payments” and “issued permits” updates.
- Submitting your 1st application: This is considered the time you are registering/creating an account for the online permit system.
- Be Prepared: Have your licenses, HIC, a worker’s comp affidavit, and liability Insurance certificate saved as (separate) PDF files in your computer. When creating the account; this will allow you to upload the document easily (there is a link to a blank worker’s comp form when creating the account if needed).
- Contractors: You will be required to upload the licenses, HIC, workers comp, and insurances once; the permit system will store them and upload to every application you are applying.
- Homeowners: For building permits; you will have to create an account also and provide a worker’s comp affidavit (there is a link to a blank worker’s comp form when creating the account).
- Trouble Applying for a Permit: Only after you have created the account: Please note all required fields have a red * If you are having trouble after you have completed all the required fields and uploaded all the required documents, please contact Patty Bucciero at pbucciero@cityofmelrose.org
- What happens when I create an account and submit my application?
- The staff will receive your application.
- Your application will be placed into the queue to be reviewed. Review times could be 2-3 weeks depending on the volume of applications we receive during that period.
- When the staff has reviewed and approved the "Fees" you will receive a “ready for payment” email; follow the link and pay. While paying when you click the submit button, please let the system work DO NOT KEEP CLICKING THE SUBMIT BUTTON; if you don't you may end up paying twice.
- When you have submitted your payment the staff will be notified automatically via the permit system.
- Once you have paid; you will receive an email with the “issued permit” attached. You are required to print this out and post it at the job site.
