Melrose Symphony Opens Season with Violin Virtuoso Adrian Anantawan

The Melrose Symphony's 102nd Season Opening Night takes place on Saturday, November 2, at 8 pm in Memorial Hall.

The all-German program features Canadian violinist Adrian Anantawan performing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor. Adrian has performed at the White House and in the Athens and Vancouver Opening Olympic Ceremonies, as well as for Pope John Paul II and the Dalai Lama.

Born without his right hand, Adrian advocates for adaptive musical instruments so all children can learn through the arts. He is featured in the documentary “Adrian Anantawan: The Story Behind the Notes” and has given a Ted Talk about empowering children with disabilities through classical music. He will speak at the pre-concert lecture beginning at 7:15 pm.

Also on the program is Weber's Freischütz Overtureand Brahms' final symphony, his monumental Symphony No. 4.
