Local Authors Kip Wilson, Jen Malone, and Nancy Werlin Discuss Writing Young Adult Fiction on October 4 at Follow Your Art Community Studios (FYACS)

Follow Your Art Community Studios (FYACS), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting creative endeavors for all ages, will host an author talk with local authors Kip Wilson, Jen Malone, and Nancy Werlin on Friday, October 4 from 7-8:30 p.m. at 647 Main Street, Melrose.

Melrose resident Kip Wilson is the author of White Rose, a historical novel-in-verse about anti-Nazi political activist Sophie Scholl. White Rose was a 2017 PEN New England Discovery Award winner and a Winter/Spring 2019 Indies Introduce and Kids’ Indie Next title. White Rose was included on the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School’s 2019 8th grade summer reading list.

Jen Malone, also a Melrose resident, is the author of over a dozen middle grade and young adult titles including The Arrival of Someday, The Sleepover, Wanderlost and Follow Your Art. Jen leads workshops on writing and publishing at schools nationwide, including the Melrose public schools.

Nancy Werlin is the author of 10 young adult novels, including the National Book Award finalist The Rules of Survival, the Edgar award winning mystery The Killer’s Cousin, and the New York Times bestselling fantasy novel, Impossible. Her latest novel is And Then There Were Four.

The three authors will discuss their work and the unique challenges and rewards of writing fiction for young adults. The conversation will be moderated by MVMMS Library Media Specialist Wendy Arnold and followed by audience Q&A and a networking reception with refreshments. All three authors’ books will be available for purchase onsite. Readers of Young Adult fiction of all ages are encouraged to attend.
