Impacts of Predicted Winter Storm for 2/13/2024

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Melrose for Tuesday, February 13th.

What You Need to Know

  • Curbside Trash & Recycling - Delayed:  All Curbside trash and recycling collection for Tuesday, February 13, has been canceled. Collection will resume on Wednesday, February 14th, with a one-day delay for the rest of the week.
  • Municipal Buildings - Closed: All Melrose Public School Buildings and Melrose municipal buildings including the City Yard will be closed to the public on Tuesday, February 13th. Any activities, meetings, or events scheduled to be held in a City of Melrose or Melrose Public Schools building have been canceled. City offices will be closed to the public.
    • City Yard will be open on Wednesday, February 14th, for drop-off.
  • Update! Parking Ban - is no longer in effect 2/13. The parking ban was lifted on Feb. 13th.

  • To report an emergency—including a downed power line—CALL 911 (DO NOT APPROACH OR TOUCH DOWNED LINES).
  • To report a power outage, call National Grid at 1-800-465-1212.
  • To report a non-emergency snow concern, call the Department of Public Works at (781) 665-0142.
  • To report a downed City tree or tree limb between 8 AM and 3:30 PM call the Department of Public Works at (781) 665-0142.
  • To report a downed City tree or tree limb between 3:30 PM and 8 AM, call the Melrose Police Department at (781) 665-1212.

Do Your Part After the Storm

  • Residents–Please shovel and salt walkways and sidewalks in front of and adjacent to your home; please shovel out nearby fire hydrants and catch basins.
  • Business owners –Please shovel and salt the sidewalks in front of and adjacent to your business.
